Tropical Cyclone Alert: TYPHOON “PEPENG” (PARMA)

Typhoon “PEPENG” has gained more strength as it moves in the general direction of Northern Luzon.
Location of Center: (as of 10:00 p.m.)	750 kms East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar
Coordinates:	10.8°N, 133.4°E
Strength:	Maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near center and gustiness of up to 160 kph
Movement:	West Northwest at 26 kph
Forecast Positions/Outlook:	Thursday evening: 440 kms East of Virac, Catanduanes Friday evening: 250 kms North Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or 270 kms East of Casiguran, Aurora Saturday evening: 270 kms North of Casiguran, Aurora or 80 kms East Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan

This disturbance is still too far to affect any part of the country within the next 24 hours.

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 A.M. tomorrow.

THE TROPICAL STORM (International name PARMA){0917} WAS ESTIMATED AT 1,040 KMS EAST OF NORTHERN MINDANAO (09.1°N 136.5°E) WITH MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS OF 95 KPH AND GUSTINESS OF UP TO 120 KPH. IT IS MOVING WEST NORTHWEST AT 22 KPH. THIS DISTURBANCE IS EXPECTED TO ENTER THE PHILIPPINE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (PAR) THIS AFTERNOON AND TO TRACK WEST NORTHWEST IN THE GENERAL DIRECTION OF NORTHERN LUZON-TAIWAN AREA. HOWEVER, IT IS STILL TOO FAR TO AFFECT ANY PART OF THE COUNTRY.

THE NEXT ADVISORY WILL BE ISSUED TOMORROW MORNING AND ANY UPDATES SHALL BE INCORPORATED IN THE REGULAR ISSUANCE OF PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST.
